How construction 3D printing works

From digital design to standing walls — in four steps.

Construction 3D printing (C3DP/3DCP) is additive manufacturing at building scale: a robotic printer extrudes engineered concrete layer by layer, following a digital model with millimeter consistency.

STEP 01

Design

The building is modeled in familiar CAD tools — SketchUp, Revit, and others — then sliced into a print path with commercial slicers such as Simplify3D or Cura. No proprietary lock-in.

STEP 02

Mix

The MAI®MULTIMIX mixing pump doses, mixes, and pumps with a self-regulating water system — constant hydration, consistent layers.

STEP 03

Print

The printer extrudes walls layer by layer, on-site or in a warehouse, the printer itself running on standard 110V power. Operators supervise from any device that can connect to Wi-Fi.

STEP 04

Finish

Your existing trades take over — roofing, electrical, plumbing, finishes. Printing integrates into conventional workflows; it doesn't replace them.

The result: structural walls with up to 6× the strength of conventional block, resistant to hurricanes, termites, water, and fire — produced on a schedule that doesn't depend on masonry crew availability.

How strong are printed walls compared to block?

Printed concrete walls achieve up to 6× the strength of conventional block construction, with hurricane, termite, water, and fire resistance — plus better insulation performance.

What does it take to run one — crew, power, skills?

A small trained crew, a standard 110V/10A outlet for the printer, a dedicated three-phase feed (or generator) for the MAI®MULTIMIX mixing pump, and software your team learns in days. Training is included with every system.

What materials does it print?

Cementitious mixes (including Sikacrete®-733 W 3D / 752 3D) and geopolymer blends, mixed on site from locally sourced components — no proprietary cartridges or imported consumables.

Does printing replace my construction workflow?

No — it slots into it. Printing produces the wall system; your existing trades handle roofing, MEP, and finishes exactly as they do today.

What does a system cost?

Printers start at $72,000 (PB Elite Roadrunner, printer only) and $140,000 (PB Heavy Duty). Complete production systems — printer, MAI®MULTIMIX, and training — start at $165,000 and $285,000 respectively, ex-works Palm City.
